Fitness Games - During this unit we will play various games that will increase the students heart-rate and help them build their cardiovascular health, muscular endurance, muscular strength, and flexibility. Working on these fitness components will impact the 5th component, which is body composition. Some games we will play are listed below.

Unit 4 - December 12th - January 27th
Cardio Room - During this unit students will be able to demonstrate the ability to perform different exercises on different machines in the cardio room. They will be able to identify different machines and how to properly use them. Students will be regularly checking for HR. Students will work cooperatively around the cardio room. The students will be rotating in small groups to each station throughout this unit. They will work on the five components of fitness and be expected to participate and work well with their peers.
By the end of the 5 week unit, students will be able to create their own fitness plan and feel confident and comfortable entering a gym/cardio room. They will have the skills necessary to use various machines and equipment to create their own workout routine.
Unit 2 - October 17th - November 10th
Fitness Testing - Students will practice fitness testing all unit and test each fitness component towards the end of the unit. They will set short-term goals in order to improve in each fitness area within the 5 week unit. The 5 components of fitness include; Cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition. We will incorporate various games/activities that target these fitness components. Below are the tests we use to identify the students ability in each fitness component.

Unit 3 - November 14th - December 9th
Weight Training - During this unit students will be able to demonstrate the ability to use the weight machines appropriately and safely. They will be able to identify the difference between muscular strength and muscular endurance. Students will discuss their goals for the weight room with the class and/or partner. Students will be filling out their weight cards each class and track their progress throughout the unit tracking their repetitions and sets, along with the weight they are using. They will be working in small groups and rotating to different machines each period.
